What are digital x-rays?
Digital x-rays, also known as digital radiography, visualize the internal parts of the body to provide static diagnostic images. X-rays are passed through the body against a panel that detects the emissions. As the x-rays pass through the body, different amounts of the radiations are absorbed by different bodily structures, thereby producing an image traced with blacks, whites, and various shades of grey.
The bones in the body appear the clearest because they have more density than the surrounding tissues, such as the muscles. As such, x-rays highlight fractures, deformities, or the loss of bone density caused by osteoporosis or other musculoskeletal conditions. The variation in shades also allows physiatrists to identify digestive tract disorders, cardiovascular blockage, lung problems, and other possible underlying conditions.
Radiography is the first step in your journey towards optimal health because it allows physiatrists and chiropractors to identify the source of your inflammation and chronic pain. It allows us to diagnose a comprehensive treatment plan that addresses the root cause of your problems rather than simply masking the symptoms. As such, we use x-rays to provide lasting relief from chronic pain without narcotics and surgeries.
What’s the difference between digital x-rays and traditional x-rays?
Older radiography techniques, i.e., traditional x-rays, necessitated using caustic chemicals and film, making the process longer and more costly. Furthermore, patients had to wait for the traditional x-rays to be processed, which involved two visits, one for the x-rays and the other for the consultation based on the results.
Digital x-rays don’t require chemicals and film, making the diagnostic process more efficient and cost-effective. And you can view the x-rays on the computer screen as soon as the scan is complete. Our physiatrists review the images with you immediately after the scan, so you don’t need to make another office visit.
Digital x-rays are also far more effective and accurate than traditional x-rays. The physiatrist can increase the contrast, enhance the images, zoom in or out, and use other techniques to get a more accurate reading. The picture can then be saved online and retrieved at will, making the documentation and diagnostic processes far simpler.
